Since the Summer Solstice is just a few days around the corner here in Chile, I figured I better write something about Spring before it is gone! Remember these beautiful blooming trees in September? Here is what they look like now in December...I love seeing God's creativity at work in nature! (or neature for those Lennny Pepperbottom fans out there..."That's pretty neat!") And for good measure, some beautiful flowers: Coming soon...a blog post about my trip to southern Chile!

A word I hear used quite often while at school is “flojo” [pronounced flow-hoe]. If you already know Spanish then you are familiar with the term “perezoso”. For those who still don’t understand that, it means “lazy”. You may be saying to yourself: “Wow, Jenny sure is floja with her blogs these days.” And it may seem quite like that...but, why reinvent the wheel?
So, without further ado and in the spirit of being floja, I ask that you journey to Chelsea's blog to read about 6 specific ways that you can get involved! (Chelsea Dietsche teaches English classes on the church property as a form of outreach. She is starting classes again this coming week and has even had to create a waiting list...hooray for such a blessing! Please keep her and her students in your prayers this week.)
Today marks one month since I moved to Chile, and I sat back in awe thinking of all that has changed in the past few months. Has the reality of it all sunk in quite yet? Honestly, I’m not sure...but I’m okay with not being sure and I have the Lord to thank for that. A lot of people at the school where I am working have asked me if I feel alone or lonely since moving and I can confidently say that I haven’t. I am at complete peace with my Savior and the immeasurable grace He pours out on us each day. I know that He is with me wherever I go. I know that He sees me everywhere that I am. He is here with me just as He has been with me my entire life and nothing could bring me more comfort. I am never alone. He is in control. On top of my faith in His powerful promises, He continues to show me how He is keeping His promises to care for me:
Dear Samsung, Whoever invented the tunes for this machine deserves a raise! Doing laundry has never been so satisfying. I am convinced that the Samsung Top Loader with Wobble Technology has to be the greatest washing machine out there. Do not be fooled by its size. The cheerful tune it dutifully sings is more welcoming than a lemonade on a hot day in the desert and it has inspired me to write this poem: An Ode to My Washing Machine Written by: Jennifer L. Proeber Inspired by: the Samsung Wobble There was a time when washing was just a chore. But alas, you did come into my life and awakened my soul like the dawn. Never more will my heart sink when it comes time to dispose of the stink of my clothing. You. You’ve changed everything. My heart hums your jubilant tune in my sleep. Your merry song is that of cleanliness, fresh scents, suds, bubbles, and a new beginning. Warning: this video may cause extreme happiness and the urge to do your laundry...side effects most likely include sorrow and extreme jealousy when you realize that your washing machine will never sing such an inspirational & beautiful song as this Samsung wonder. Also, if this doesn’t make you smile you may wish to consult your family doctor as soon as possible. I challenge you to prove that any other washing machine could make you happier or inspire you more.
